Special Lectures at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
Prof. Dr. Kiyota Hashimoto, ESSAND, PSU Phuket, was invited to organize a Two-day Tutorial Workshop on Deep Learning Research at Universiti Teknogogi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Campus (UTMKL), Malaysia, on 24 & 25 October, 2018. This workshop was supported by UTMKL and International Institute of Applied Informatics under the program of ICTHRD (Program of ICT Human Resource Development in Asian Countries) that also delivered a Three-Day Tutorial Workshop on Deep Learning Research at Faculty of Engineering, PSU Hat Yai in September 2018. Deep learning is one of the recent AI technologies that employs artificial neural networks and more researchers are conducting a variety of studies to take advantage of big data, IoT, and GPGPU to enable machine learning to handle more diverse tasks including image recognition, machine translation, and marketing prediction, to name a few.
Prof. Dr. Kiyota Hashimoto delivered a lecture on foundations and recent developments of deep learning, together with Assoc. Prof. Hidekazu Yanagimoto at Osaka Prefecture University, Japan, which is a partner university with PSU. The total number of participants was 28, all of whom were graduate students and lecturers.
